In Hadassah University Hospital, more than 90% of patients fully recover during non-surgical cardiac catheterization. More than 30% of all such procedures performed in Israel are done in the Jerusalem Medical Center. For hundreds of patients with cardiovascular diseases, both Israeli and international patients, the cardiologists of  Hadassah hospital were the only ones who were able to provide the necessary assistance.

LEADING FOR YEARS

At the begining of 2021, Hadassah  for the first time in Israel began to carry out ablation of hard-to-reach areas of the atrium with access through the chest, which gave hope for recovery to patients with arrhythmia, for which there was no suitable treatment before. In March 2019 Hadassah has become the only hospital in Israel in which mitral valve correction is performed using the third-generation MitraClip technology. In January 2018, at  Hadassah , Doctor David Luria for the first time in Israel implanted a pacemaker in a new way to avoid complications – with the introduction of an electrode into the “Bundle of His”. In November 2015, cardiologists of the Mc “Hadassah” Doctor David Luria and Doctor Yair Elitsur were the first in Israel to implant the patient with an innovative capsule MICRA – the smallest and most effective pacemaker in the world.

This list could be supplemented with dozens of other examples: the public university hospital “Hadassah” is constantly the first to develop and implement unique techniques and technologies, often even faster than in the United States.

AT HADASSAH HOSPITAL, INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES SAVE DOZENS OF LIVES EVERY YEAR

2019Thanks to Hadassah, Israel cardiology reached new high level; (Axurion) the only diagnostic and interventional cardiac system in Israel
2018For the first time in Israel, the team of cardiologists of Hadassah under leadership of Doctor David Luria implanted 3 pacemakers in a completely new way, mastered by them during the congress in London.
2016The first specialized hospital for the treatment of heart valves in Israel.
2013Cardiologists of the Hadassah became the only ones who were able to stop the endless series of open operations to a 15-years old girl, who had suffered from heart failure since the age of three months. She had a transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement, and now is doing well with no longer need for surgeries.
2012For the first time in Israel, a multidisciplinary team of leading cardiologists and cardiac surgeons of Hadassah MC implanted an aortic valve through the aorta to 80-yearsold patient from the United States. The patient get recovered after 4 days.

THE FIRST PLACE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CARDIOLOGY IN ISRAEL

The Cardiology Institute of MC “Hadassah” uses the latest methods of research and treatment of heart disease. For example, invasive coronary angiography, carried out by injecting a contrast agent into the heart vessels through a catheter, has long been successfully replaced in the hospital by a much safer virtual coronary angiography using a modern CT device, in which the contrast agent is injected simply into the ulnar vein. After processing the data on the computer, three-dimensional models of the heart and blood vessels are created. The duration of the study is 40-50 seconds, it does not require hospitalization and anesthesia. With its help, it is possible to examine the state of the vessels of the heart and the patency of stents after bypass surgery, measure the level of vascular calcification, analyze the indicators of heart function and prevent the development of myocardial infarction, as well as reduce the risk of sudden death of the patient. The new method of diagnosis is fast and inexpensive. It is easily tolerated by patients and is very informative for doctors.

Here, rhythm and conduction disorders of the heart are treated, as well as operations to implant a pacemaker are successfully performed. In order to treat the heart in Israel, invasive cardiology procedures are used (including angiography and catateterization of coronary vessels), coronary vessel stenting with an antithrombolytic coating stent, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and others.
After coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve replacement operations, as well as coronary angioplasty for myocardial infarction, patients of the hospital undergo modern rehabilitation treatment in the branch on Scopus. Monitoring of the rehabilitation of cardiac patients is carried out using an ECG telemetry system, which provides complete control over their condition at the initial stages of the recovery process.
The echocardiography (Echocardiography) division of the hospital is known worldwide as the best at assessing cardiac function, valve function and thoracic aorta. Transesophageal echocardiography allows you to obtain high-definition images of certain areas of the heart, for example, the mitral and aortic valves, the left atrium, both atria, the interatrial septum or large vessels. This makes it possible to better understand the problem, make a more accurate diagnosis and most often allows for more accurate treatment.

During hospitalization and in emergency cases, echocardiography of the heart can be carried out in the intensive care unit, the traumatology department, the operating room (to assess the success of surgery on the heart valve, the diagnosis of pathologies that caused hemodynamic instability, etc.), the department of internal diseases, oncological and hematological departments and in intensive care (for example, cardiology, pulmonology, surgery, neurosurgery).
According to the Ministry of Health of Israel and the Israeli Association of Cardiology, in Hadassah hospital, the indicators of speed and quality of response during myocardial infarction are the best in the country.

THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF CARDIOLOGY:

Coronary heart disease in children and adults
Diseases of the valve apparatus,
Diseases of the pericardium, myocardium and endocardium
Arrhythmia (the Heart Institute has an arrhythmia treatment center headed by Dr. David Luria) and cardiac conduction,
Angina pectoris and heart failure.

STATIONARY UNITS

Intensive care unit for cardiac patients and round-the-clock functional diagnostics rooms (ECG, ECHO, Doppler).
The Electrophysiology Unit conducts electrophysiological checks, treatment of arrhythmias and installation of pacemakers.
A unit dealing with the treatment of heart failure and diseases of the heart muscle. The unit assesses the severity of the disease and its nature, as well as the appointment of the necessary treatment to patients.
The Division of Non-invasive Cardiology, where stress tests, electrocardiograms within 24 hours and echocardiography are performed.
Division specializing in the treatment of myocardial infarction and heart failure.
A unit engaged in research activities.

READY 24/7

Cardiologists of Hadassah have become one of the most active participants in the new project initiated by the Israeli emergency medical service “Magen David Adom” (MDA).
“Hadassah” began to use a specially developed application developed by the MDA to notify medical personnel about emergency situations.
The main idea is to recruit as many volunteers as possible. The application will immediately contact those who will be closest to the patient in need of help. In addition, participants will receive detailed instructions from the MDA until an ambulance arrives at the scene.

FOREIGN COLLEAGES
In 2018, the interaction between Israeli and Azerbaijani doctors took on a more orderly and official character
Among the speakers at the seminar was the world-famous specialist in invasive cardiology Doctor Boris Varshitsky, who spoke about the most modern methods of invasive treatment of myocardial infarction and other pathologies. The doctor became one of the most active participants in the joint projects of RUN GROUP and  Hadassah hospital.

INSTITUTE OF CARDIOLOGY MC ‘HADASSAH IS THE LEADING HOSPITAL IN ISRAEL FOR TREATMENT OF HEART DISEASE.
