Angiomas are benigntumors consisting of small blood vessels. They can occur almost anywhere on the body. Angiomas appear spontaneously, mostly in middle age people.
There are several different types of angiomas: spider, cherry or senile. The cause of most types of angiomas is not known. Angioma may be a symptom of another disorder such as cirrhosis.
Sudden appearance of many angiomas can be a sign of a developing internal malignancy.
Angioma is not treated, unless it is bleeding or bothering. Angioma can be treated by cryosurgery or electrosurgery in the doctor’s office.
Electrosurgery consists of touching the skin area with an electric needle and destroying the blood vessels that assemble the tumor. Cryosurgery works by freezing and destroying the tumor.
