During breast augmentation surgery (breast enlargement) surgeon increases the size of the breasts through the insertion of silicon or saline implants.Breast augmentation surgery may be performed in an accredited office-based surgical center, outpatient manner in a medical center or a hospital.

Preparation to the surgery includes getting baseline mammogram, stopping taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding.The procedure usually lasts 1-2 hours. The location of the incisions varies, based on the type of implant, degree of enlargement desired, patient’s particular anatomy, and patient-surgeon preference.

Breast enlargement/ augmentation is carried out under general anesthesia. The stitches removed within 4 to 5 days.Side effects of operation can include some discomfort, bruising, soreness, swelling, and/or skin wrinkling, temporarily excessive breast sensitivity.
