It is known that prevention is always better than the cure. Regular health check-ups should be standard procedure in every person’s health routine.
Many diseases show similar signs and some do not produce any sign until they have advanced too much to be cured. That is why doctors suggest people to undertake medical checkups every five years until age 40 and then every one to three years thereafter.
During medical Check up program doctors will screen each organ closely to detect even the smallest symptom that could be an indication of a major disease.
Medical Check up may determine hidden illness that could be treated before it is too late. Diseases like hypertension, diabetes, leukemia, hepatitis, cardiac complaints, kidney problems, cancer can be discovered at random medical check-up and then it becomes a life saving procedure.
There are several different packages for health screening, usually named: regular, executive, executive with exercise test, and comprehensive. The regular package includes a physical exam, standard blood work (including liver, kidney, lipid profiles, and blood cell counts), urine and stool exam, chest X-ray. The most full 'comprehensive' package lists many more blood tests, including tests for hepatitis, thyroid function and markers for various tumors. Further included: whole abdomen ultrasound, electrocardiogram, eye exam, mammogram for females, exercise stress test and other. |
